Principle ideas of our methodology

Simulation of the bone healing process.
The Biot model of the poroelastic media can be used to simulate a bone fracture. Such a fracture is characterized by a gap between two parts of the bone and a soft tissue called callus tissue filling the gap and the neighborhood of the fracture, see the figure below. The bone itself is also filled with soft tissue of the same properties as the callus tissue. The three constituents are shown in the figure.
